Hello and welcome to my blog! Let me start by introducing myself; I am Charlie Soto a recognised Cyber Security expert with nearly three decades of experience in IT, Cyber Security and Information Security working for Mandiant now part of Google Cloud as a Principal Consultant for Professional Services in APJ providing Executive Services (vCISO, Programme Assessment and Tabletop Exercises).
I hold a Master’s of Science from the University of West London and various certifications pertaining to Cyber Security (CISSP, CISM, C|CISO, CIAM, TOGAF, CDPSE++). I was also a member of CSA Zero Trust experts working group developing training . You can have a look at my linked-in if you are interested in connecting or finding out more.
I have been living in South East Asia for the last 6 years and counting, having worked in pretty much all countries in the region. I have been focused primarily on the Thai market for the last two years understanding the nuances of how things work in the land of smiles, my last role as the head of Cyber Security and Data Protection Officer for a regional e-commerce enabler is where I fist cut my teeth here. I was also based out of Singapore for the worlds largest global System’s Integrator heading up Business Development and Cyber Security Practice Leader in the region for three years.
In my spare time I’m avid Enduro motorcycle rider and was a semi-professional sportsman having competed in some grueling enduros in the UK, I am now competing in Thailand non-professionally in the over 40’s class of my local enduro clubs. I love travelling and anything to do with food, cooking and of course the best bit – eating!
This blog will aim to bring to light things that I uncover in my professional and personal life that may be useful to anyone working in IT or Security or even interested in the same past-times as me and living in Thailand!
